OH VERY GOOD BAND, PEOPLE, I LIKES THESE BANDS WHO DON'T
AFRAID TO EXPERIMENT WITH MUSIC (EVER IT'S NOT DEATH/GRIND). HOPEFULLY DARZAMAT
BREAKS THE STANDARDS OF BLACK METAL AND EXPLORE NEW TERRITORY WITH
"SEMIDEVILISH". EACH SONG IS UNIQUE, WELL COMPOSED. MUSIC IS FULL OF DARK
ATMOSPHERE , DEATH METAL RIFFS AND MANY ELEMENTS OF DEATH/BLACK/DARK... VOCALS
ARE PREFECT BALANCED. (FROM DEATH GROWLS AND HELLISH SCREAMS TO PREFECT
PERFORMED FEMALE VOCAL LINES, GOOD STUFF.
TARAS BULBA: "I AM NOT FOUND ANY BLACK METAL ELEMENTS , MAYBE 10% OF VOCAL LINES
ARE BLACK METAL BUT MAINLY IT'S DEATH METAL... DARK DEATH METAL WITH GOOD FEMALE
VOCAL LINES"
Fourth
full length by Darzamat proves that the band is still focused on metal music,
but they are not afraid of experiments. " Setnidevilish" is definitely their
heaviest album so far. It skillfully combines black and death metal elements
with symphonic sounds. Recording of the material took about 2 months at Maniut
Studio. The album was produced by Maciej Mularczyk (last album by Frontside.
among others). The CD is enhanced with the live videoclip to "Era Aggression".
It was recorded at 9th edition of Brutal Assault Festival, where Darzamat played
in August this year. At the beginning of 1995 Flauros and Szymon Strnzek
(musicians at that time involved in black metal band Mastiphal) founded
DARZAMAT. Band’s name comes from Slavonic mythology and according to it Darzamat
is a deity, who guards forests. During the preparations for the debut album band
was strengthen by Katarzyna Banaszak. Who together with Flauros took
responsibility for vocal parts. On the first album Struzek. apart from midi and
drums programming. recorded guitar and bass parts as well. "In The Flames Of
Black Art", which consisted of eight compositions, was recorded in summer of
1996 at "Cyber Studio" in Katowice. Few months later it was released by Poland's
Faithless Production. In spite of the fact that band called its music "black
art", media classified it to symphonic black metal. The album was well judged by
plenty of music magazines and often gathered high marks in various annual
reviews. Despite deal proposals from Massacre Records (Germany). Avantgarde
Music (Italy) and Displeased Records (Holland). Darzamat decided to issue one
more album under the wings of Faithless Records. In summer of 1997 ex Dragon
drummer - Bomba and guitarist Daamr joined the band and at the beginning of 1998
musicians once again entered "Cyber Studio" to record second material entitled
"In The Opium Of Black Veil". The album, which consisted of live tracks,
musically was a natural continuation of the way the band chose on their debut
production. In 2002 these two
albums were re-issued by Metal Mind Productions
from Poland. The re-editions also contained two new versions of Darzamat's
songs. In 1999 band signed a two-album contract with Avantgarde Music. But works
on the following album were going slowly and took over two years. The main
reason for such a long break was forming Struzek's "Poststreet studio" where the
third album (“Oniriad”) was going to be recorded. Months of work brought nine
songs. New musical conception chosen by the band's members was even more
difficult to categorize. Except for metal parts lots of gothic. folk and even
ambient influences could be found on the album. In April of 2003 “Oniriad” was
released by Avantgarde Music. But another personal rotations didn't omit the
band. During the "Oniriad" session Daamr left for his own project called
Eclipse. His position was taken by Chris - guitarist of the band Chort. Also
Paul new drummer (formerly known from Mastiphal) joined the band and soon after
the release of "Oniriad" vocalist Kate left and moved to US. Misunderstandings
concerning the musical vision, which the band could follow in future finally
caused Darzamal's founders to split up. After eight years of cooperation Struzek
left the band and concentrated on his own project and work as a producer at his
PostStreet studio. This bands biggest personal change has influenced a lot the
current sound of Darzamat. Lately Daamr has re-joined the band and together with
Chris is now responsible for composing. Both musicians except for guitar parts
prepare bass sections as well. Following new musicians to strengthen the band
are Golem (drummer known from band Dragon) and Spectre, who takes care of
keyboards. And finally Nera from Midnightdare is now a new female vocalist.
Thanks to new musicians current Darzamat's productions are much more mature and
combine dark emotions with, more than ever in the band history, aggressive
guitars. On the one hand it's a come back to hard metal sound fulfilled with
gloomy atmosphere, on the other hand new tracks are far different from
everything the band has recorded so far. The fourth album called "Semidevilish"
was recorded in Maniut Studio (June August 2004) and produced by Maciej
Mularczyk (last Frontside album and more). It skillfully combines black and
death metal elements with dark atmosphere, so characteristic for the band. This
year Darzamat appeared at numerous festivals, e.g. Moscow After Midnight (with
Entwine). Brutal Assault (with Cannibal Corpse and Impaled Nazarene) or Metal
Head Mission (with Pungent Stench). In November the band will take part in the
3rd edition of Dark Stars Festival.
