Stefan Ackermann – Vocals

Bruno Kramm – All instrumentation

The godfathers of dark electronic goth did it gain. Just two years following their successful double album „Lava“ the duo Stefan Ackermann and Bruno Kramm presents the follow-up which has no comparisons. It was been a long time since DAS ICH were so close to the roots of their own sound, although the dark Cabaret delivers naughty sound escapades and a remarkable cynical and multiple interpretation of the basic theme in the costumes of a marionette theatre. What is imagination and what’s the destiny? Where ends reality and where does madness begin? Kramm’s electronical chamber orchestra was accompanied by a large variety of vital sounding accoustic sound collages which puts the so far only electronic sound into the twilight between claustrophobic reality and unchained phantastic atmosphere without becoming usual. Stefan Ackermann’s vocals between sonor incantation and strong distorted madness leads through the visit of the nightmare theatre, brining it to a joyride of darkest emotions and leaving the listener behind with a strong impression. As strong as ever the vocals parts between Stefan Ackermann and Bruno Kramm combine to a variable combination. Next to hymnic song jewels like „Atemlos“, „Paradigma“ and the radical minimalstic non-dance floorer „Opferzeit” the album destilates in experimental sound collages such as “Fluch” to lead to an erotic fireworks with the opera-like vocals by Marianne Isers (Schneewittchen). It excites and terrifies when the listener thinks he has reached the centre of the spider’s web with the abyss in the title track “Cabaret”. DAS ICH haven’t often been that variable, catchy but still different. Sometimes even cynical and bitter the duo promises terrifying moments in an standartized gothic genre. The artwork’s exeptional also: in finest Tim Burton –manner the two protagonists were placed as vice versa marionette players. The limited edition will be available in a worthy box sets including the CD „Variete“ and the DVD „Panopticum“. “Variete” mainly presents remixes of German-speaking followers of the DAS ICH-genre and the DVD includes the bands short movie „Kaleidoskop – in zehn Minuten Licht“ as well as live videos of the well-known furious concert performances by Ackermann and Kramm.
Come, come right inside!
