bio
Gothic metal can be so glorious! This is proven by CORONATURS with their two front ladies! The music is melodic but very catchy, with a pumping beat and with guitar hooks that add the needed heaviness to the bands’ sound. Having two completely different female singers gives CORONATUS an abolute unique sound within the scene.
CORONATUS were founded by drummer Mats Kurth (a.o. Illuminate). At the end of 2004/early 2005 the line up was finally complete. With the two front ladies Frontfrauen Carmen R. Schäfer (Illuminate, guest vocals for Brainstorm etc.) and Viola Schuch the demo "My Rose Desire" was recorded end of 2005 which became album of the month at Metal Hammer Hungary and led the band to some shows in Hungary including the Gothica V. -festival with Haggard and Moonsorrow in Budapest. Consequently this was followed by the recordings for the first album in 2006 entitled “Lux Noctis”. The songs have lyrics in German, English and Latin. The album was recorded and mixed at Klangschmiede Studio E by Markus Stock and Tobias Schönemann, the masterminds of The Vision Bleak. To give the recording the final topping the album was mastered Oktober 2006 at Finnvox-Studios in Helsinki by Mika Jussila (Nightwish, Children of Bodom etc.) and the artwork and photos were done by Katja Piolka (Sinner, Primal Fear, Elis etc.) “Lux Noctis” is not just another goth metal album but a debut with a remarkable creativity and personality.
