biography

ANVIL OF DOOM started in "96-'97 as Akelarre. The original members in this band were: Alvaro (Dolly), guitar, Dario and Hector (Mono) playing vocals and Javier Pinto, guitar. This line Up was 'Together until '98. From '98 the band became ANVIL OF DOOM.
Only Alvaro and Pinto were still in the band, and then came Alonso on drums (ex-Alabanza) and Beltran singing (ex-Sombra). This new line-up recorded their first demo "My Conscience", more into Thrash Style.
This was a time with tne first contacts with the stages: Alvar Nunez, La Merced, Club Nazaret... After the show at Club Nazaret, a crisis started, which ended with the departure of Alvaro, Javiagra y Antonio.
En el verano de 2000 los unicos componentes de ANVIL OF DOOM , Pinto y Beltran, deseaban hacer un cambio en el estilo de musica de la banda y reclutaron a un nuevo guitarrista: Hugo.
From this point, the band started to change and define their new style, from the early Thrash-Death influenced by Sepulture and Pantera, they evolved into a Melodic Death in the vein of In Flames, Soilwork, Arch Enemy... with a more technical approach, but melodic and aggressive at the same time.
In August 2002 ANVIL OF DOOM recorded their first serious work as demo at Wykyn 'n Morkyn Studios (Jerez de la Frontera), entitled "Died Before Dawn", which leaded to a deal with XTREEM MUSIC in April 2003. Then ANVIL OF DOOM decided to focus on their very first full length album, to be recorded in Feb '04, with a quick stop to play in Madrid at the Xtreem Music Festival with Nuclear Assault, Exodus, Grave, Mortician, etc, in October 2003.
Due to some studio problems, the recording of the album, titled "Deathillusion", was extended until July of the same year, which caused a serious delay on the initial scheduled date for the release of the album and which finally saw the light in September 2004.
